Obituary for Aida Torres White

Aida Torres White
Aida Torres White, 90, born July 17, 1923 in Caibarien, Cuba, now long time resident of Brevard, earned her angel wings on Monday, April 21, 2014.
Emigrating from Cuba at the tender age of 16, Aida was the first woman to attend Warren-Wilson College, an all-boys school at the time, before transferring to Montreat College. She was a terrific story teller who loved to take any listener back to those first years in America with all of the mischief she found!
Aida had a very long career as a Compensation Specialist at Olin/Ecusta and was a loyal member of First Baptist Church of Brevard, where she loved to sing in the Choir. She made lifelong friends in Brevard that she treasured.
Aida’s incredible life and gregarious nature can’t possibly begin to be summed up in this short column. She was generous, charismatic, affectionate, and deeply loved her family, friends, and God (but hated peanut butter).
She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Louisa Torres. She is survived by her son, Tony White, and his wife Susan; her son Marco White, and his wife Rebecca; her granddaughter, Elizabeth White Morris, and her husband Chris; her two grandsons, Lee White and Graham White; and her great-granddaughter, Hannah Morris.
A Memorial Service celebrating Aida’s life will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 94 S. Gaston St, Brevard, NC 28712 at 10:30 in the morning with a private family graveside service following at Ashelawn Cemetery in Asheville.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Aida's memory be made to Four Season’s Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
