Donald Lawrence Crowell

Brevard – Donald Lawrence Crowell, 94, passed away July 14, 2014 at the Brian Center.

He was formerly of Unity, ME and Arcadia, FL. He was born January 7, 1920 in Winsor Nova Scotia and became a US Citizen in 1942.

He was the son of the late James William and Alvetta Grace Galley Crowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Leona Mae Gould Crowell and two sons; Lawrence (Dusty) Crowell and Arthur A. (Butch) Crowell

Donald worked for General Electric during WWII helping supply much needed parts for the war effort. After one year with GE, he was employed by Eastman Kodak as a machinist until retiring early to take care of his wife in 1978.

After retirement, Don and his wife lived half of the year in Unity, ME and the other half in Arcadia, FL.

He was a member of the Quaker Hill Baptist Church in Unity, ME and a member of North Hillsborough Baptist Church in Arcadia, FL.

Surviving are his long time caregivers; Mary and Carlos Fisher of Brevard. Carlos became like a son to Don as a result of Don’s son Arthur being killed at Carlos’ side in Vietnam.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
