A native of Brevard, he was the son of the late Robert Marion Manley and Helen Corn Manley. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Gene Stiles.
Surviving are his son, Jonathan Manley and wife Stephanie of DuPont, WA; grandchildren, Savannah, Chloe, and Bristol Manley; sisters, Barbara Fowler and husband Marvin of Cashiers, Carolyn Galloway and husband Roscoe of Etowah, Martha Gaddy and husband Lawrence of Hendersonville, and Brenda Rider of Brevard; special friend, Jennifer Thomas of Brevard; as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His granddaughters were the light of his life and he adored each of them. Robert loved to enjoy time outdoors with Savannah, Chloe and Bristol. Some of their favorite things to do together were to fish at Sycamore Flats and feed the ducks at Lake Julian. Due to their status as Army Brats, Robert's granddaughters enticed him to explore the country and become well traveled. He loved being an Army Dad.
Robert loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He would almost always start his day with the "Old Man's Club" at Burger King. The rest of his day would be spent cruising town or riding around in the forest with his faithful companion MoJo. It is now time to retire MoJo's limo.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 pm Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Transylvania County Recreation Department.
