Lake Toxaway – Homer Davis Chappell, Jr., 76, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014.
A native of Transylvania County he was the son of the late Homer Davis Chappell and Freddie Hinkle Chappell. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou Winchester and Roberta Ann McCall, and brother, Jeff Chappell. Mr. Chappell was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and he retired from the United Auto Workers as a Union Steward.
Surviving are his sons, John Chappell and wife Julie of Bristol, WI, Randy Chappell and wife Mary of Antioch, IL; daughters, Nancy Dvorak and husband John of Elk Horn, WI, Sheila Chappell-Peterson of Bristol, WI; brother, Sydney Chappell and wife Tammy of Pickens, SC; sisters, Judy Callahan and husband Mark of Six Mile, SC, Agnes Middleton and husband Jim of Goode, VA; grandchildren, Ana, Ricky, Michael, Abbey, Baylee, Dillon, Shannon; great-grandchild, Hudson.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Montvale-Whitewater Cemetery, Sapphire, NC with military rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans.
The family will receive friends from 10 am until 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
