Obituary for Grace McKinney McNeely

Grace McKinney McNeely went home to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, February 22, 2015. Grace was 88 years old, born August 2, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bill McNeely, Sr.; her father and mother Allen and Vergie McKinney; her brothers Richard and Bud; and sisters Ruth Fisher, Mildred McKinney, Nell Danielson, Bonita McCall, Oleta McKinney; and one great-grandson Max Whitmire. She is survived by her only son Bill McNeely, Jr. and wife Myrt; sisters Martha Galloway and Brenda Berkshire, and brother Bill McKinney. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Mack McNeely and wife April, Sherry Whitmire and husband Kelly, and Daniel McNeely and wife Heather. Great-grandchildren include Lane and Alic Whitmire, Alex, Avery and Liam McNeely, and Ella Grace and Denver McNeely.

Grace was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and a member of Lake Toxaway Baptist Church. She enjoyed decades of gardening and was certainly blessed with a “green thumb.” From growing vegetables to tending her landscaping, she was an independent lady who enjoyed hours on her tractor. She was always ready to travel with her family; enjoying the time she spent with them. Grace will always be remembered for the fabulous meals she would constantly prepare; as well as her love for fishing.

Moody-Connolly Funeral Home will be caring for the family. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 24th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, the 25th, 2:00 pm at Lake Toxaway Baptist Church, where she will be interred.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Lake Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (PO Box 482, Lake Toxaway) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.)
