Obituary for William "Rondal" Chapman

William Rondal Chapman went to be with the Lord on the morning of June 30, 2015. Born November 28, 1946 to the late William Elzie and Effie Dorene Chapman, Rondal married his high school sweetheart, Freida Green, on Saturday, June 17, 1967. Ronette, Ranessa, Milon and Ranille were blessed to be brought into the world by Rondal and Freida. Rondal was the devoted husband and father who always put his family, friends, and strangers first. Selfless in everything he did, Rondal ensured that his family grew together as they aged and never grew apart. He chose to lead his family by example and taught them all how to be better people. These lessons were taught on the river banks of the French Broad, under the towering oaks and hickories in the woods, on the basketball courts and bleachers at TC Henderson and Rosman High School, and countless other locations. In his finals days, his concern was not for himself but for his family. His passing has left a wound in their hearts that will never heal, but they find comfort in knowing they will see his smiling face again.
Rondal was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law William “Bill” McKelvey.
Rondal is survived by the love of his life, Freida, and his three daughters: Ronette Dill and husband Brian of Landrum, SC, Ranessa Thomas and husband Chris of Cherryfield, NC, Ranille McCall and husband Corey of Lake Toxaway, NC and son, Milon and wife Lisa of Campobello, SC. Two sisters: Jean McKelvey of Cedar Mountain and Pat Matthews and husband Oren of Cherryfield, NC.
Affectionately referred to as “Pop,” Rondal smiled the greatest in the presence of his eight grandchildren: Brianna, Deland, Peyton, Hooper, MayLeigh, Maryssa, Emmary, and Ellasyn.
A visitation will be held at 11am, Friday, July 3, 2015 and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lake Toxaway. An intimate graveside service for close family and friends will be held at 10am in the church cemetery.
