Obituary for Bessie Cox Hollingsworth

Bessie Cox Hollingsworth, 78, of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 in Brevard, North Carolina.

Bessie was born August 2, 1937, in Jacksonville, Florida. At the age of three she moved to Enon where she grew up. A devoted wife, mother, and “Mawmaw”, Bessie shared her love for Jesus by teaching in the children’s department and discipling many young women.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, James Hollingsworth, Pisgah Forest; her son David and his wife, Alyse of Brevard; and her granddaughter, Emily of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her son, Ray Vic Hollingsworth, and her parents Homer and Mary Lou Cox, and her brother, Homer Cox Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Brevard Community Church with receiving of friends following the celebration. A private burial will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Memory Care Unit at The Oaks of Brevard for the special care given to Bessie the last several months. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request memorials be made to the Memory Care Unit, The Oaks of Brevard,300 Morris Road, Brevard, NC 28712.
