Obituary for Mary Emma Majewski (Luther)

Mary Emma Majewski, age 99, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.
She was born on May 25, 1916 in Ignacio, Colorado on an Indian Reservation near Durango. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Luther and Florence Estelle Estes Luther. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Erwin Luther and her first husband of 48 years Omer Harland Brackney of Lakeland, Florida. She then moved to Lake Alfred, Florida after marrying David Garrett, Sr. They were married 3 ½ years. Following his death she met and married Al Majewski and they lived 4 years in Haines City, Florida until his death in 1996. In 2006 she moved to Brevard, North Carolina and College Walk, where she resided until her death.
Mary Emma received her teaching certificate from Florida Southern College in Lakeland and taught multiple grades in Cross City, Florida. She and her first husband raised 2 children in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Lakeland, Florida. As a homemaker she loved to cook, garden, and in later years delighted in ballroom dancing.
She is survived by two children. Her son, Edwin Brackney (Sarah) of Brevard, North Carolina, granddaughters Elizabeth Rogers and Rebecca Plondke (Dan) and her great-grandchildren Marissa and Savannah Plondke and Cassidy and Kennedy Rogers. Her daughter, Thera Woodruff (George) resides in Winter Park, Florida with grandson Randy Woodruff ( Michelle), great-grandchildren Chase, Marshall and Brantley and grandson Rick Woodruff (Nancy) and great-grandchildren Chelsi, Ricky, Grant and Slade. She also leaves her brother Jerald Conrad Luther of Largo, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to G. Ruffin Benton III, MD, Lana Reimann, MD, MPH, The entire Transylvania Hospice team and all the loving Caregivers at the Inn at College Walk for their loving and comforting devotion during her final days with us.
