Obituary for Donna Lynn Bird (Friel)
Brevard, NC – Donna Friel Bird, 69, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late William and Estelle Huff Friel.
Donna dedicated 42 years of her life as a nurse in Jacksonville, FL at Riverside and Jacksonville Baptist Hospitals, then in Atlanta at Piedmont Hospital. After moving to Brevard, NC, she enjoyed volunteering at El Centro and Mountain Sun Community Schools. Donna was a mother figure to everyone she knew She never had a negative word to say toward anyone. The thing that brought her the most joy was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters; Marie Gillespie and husband James of Acworth, GA, Kim Skeen and husband Rob of Brevard and Elizabeth Clemons of Buffalo, NY, brother; William Friel, Jr. and grandchildren; James, Robert Cedar Ann, Lillian, Estelle and Sophia.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30am on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at St. Catherine of Siena, 1618 Ben King Road, Kennesaw, GA. A graveside service will be held 11am on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Sun Community School, PO Box 2229, Brevard, NC 28712.
