Obituary for Pamela Jean Gaddy (Gaddy)

Pamela Jean Gaddy of Topton, NC, formerly of Brevard, took leave of this world on Saturday, May 28, 2016.

Pamela is survived by her four children: Cassandra Mae Gaddy of Brevard; River Alan and Hunter Aiden Smith of Shinnston, West Virginia; and Holden Elzie Gaddy of Andrews. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren: Haylee Nykole Talkington, Hannah Abigal Talkington, Halas Peyton McWherter and Holiday Skye McWherter, all of Andrews. In addition, she is survived by her grandmother Flossie Barton of Brevard; her mother Ida Rogers and a sister Megan Faith Rogers of Elberton, Georgia; and a sister Lynn Tyler of Brevard. Also surviving are her uncles Robert Barton and James C. “Jake” Barton both of Brevard and a niece, Sable Galloway.

Pamela was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Lynn Tucker of Elberton, Georgia; her father James Lawrence Gaddy, Jr. of Brevard; her stepfather Johnny Rogers of Elberton, Georgia; a beloved nieces Amber Skye Galloway and Ava Galloway; and her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

She was a kind and caring person. She loved people, antiques, and the ocean. She was kind to people and non judgmental. If she were speaking, she would tell us to celebrate her life and not mourn her death.

Asher Roth is quoted as saying “Do your thing. Do it unapologetically. Don’t be discouraged by criticism. You probably already know what they’re going to say. Pay no mind to the fear of failure. It’s far more valuable than success. Take ownership, take chances, and have fun. And no matter what, don’t ever stop doing your thing.” This is Pam. Pam did her own thing. She completed almost two years of college, but never completed a program. She took whatever classes interested her at the time and excelled in them. She spent the majority of her working years as a waitress because she enjoyed interacting with the variety of people she met. She was an excellent artist and a creative poet. Her energy and zest for life will be missed forever. Her life was a blessing to those who knew her, her memory a treasure to those whose life she touched. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure by her family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 3pm, Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard.
