Obituary for Helen Edith Snipes (Wood)

Brevard – Helen Edith Snipes, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sally Blackburn Wood and was the wife of the late Paul Snipes. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Moody and Wilma Coggins.
Mrs. Snipes was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and “Nanny” to many. She was a former member of Little Cove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Donna King and husband Gerald of Greenville, SC, and Helen Zachary and husband Jimmy of Brevard; sons, Gene Snipes and wife Sheila of Brevard, Ed Snipes and wife Ronna of Brevard, and John Snipes and wife Terri of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Wilda Stewart and husband Gene of Brevard; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 15, 2016 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Snipes officiating. Burial will be in Big Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
