Obituary for Tommy Walter Chapman

Rosman – Tommy Walter Chapman, 81, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.

He was the son of the late Gaston and Nora Meece Chapman. He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary “Catherine” Chapman, two sisters; Mildred Elliott and Barbara McCullers and a grandson, Eli Chapman.

Tommy was a lifelong resident of the Old Toxaway and Rosman communities and a member of Old Toxaway Baptist Church. He enjoyed his family, friends, the outdoors, working on things and his naps. He was a wonderful and loyal husband, father and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his sons; David Chapman and wife Elizabeth of Greer, SC and Daniel Chapman and wife Yvonne of Brevard, daughters; Patricia Chapman Smith and husband Jeff of Cedar Mountain and Kayla Chapman Powell and husband Jordan of Fletcher, sisters; Dot Jessup, JoAnn Dowling, Louise Childers and Kathy Gaines, grandchildren; Alex Chapman, Jacob and Luke Smith and MaKena, Peyton and Callie Powell.

Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Bruner and Bill Jessup officiating. The family will receive friends from 12noon until 2pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Old Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are welcomed. Also, donations may be made to the Old Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Po Box 669, Rosman, NC 28772.
