Obituary for Leroy Summey

Brevard – Leroy Summey, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2016.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late James Oscar Summey and Nora Huggins Summey and was the husband of the late Mary Lou Galloway Summey who went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2016. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Franklin, William, Van, J.B. and Carl Summey.
Mr. Summey was a member and Deacon of Morningside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was retired after 42 years of service from Ecusta. Mr. Summey was a loving husband, father and Papaw.
Survivors include his daughters, Judy Summey Cheek and husband Craig, Joan Summey Stewart and husband James, Jane Summey Cassell and husband Jimmy all of Brevard; son, Jeffery Summey and wife Jonlyn of Brevard; sisters-in-law, Betty Galloway Summey and Helen Whitmire Summey both of Brevard; brother-in-law, Fred Galloway and wife Jo Ann of Brevard; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jayson Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. At other times, the family will be at the home.
