Obituary for William Clarence Hendon

William Clarence Hendon
Brevard - Chaplain William Clarence Hendon, 68 year old Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Friend, Child of the most High God, planter and soul winner for his personal savior Jesus Christ went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:37 A.M. December 26th with his family by his side.

Chaplain Willie spent his life reaching out to those in need. Willie took early retirement from the Fort Walton Beach Florida Police Department to become a fulltime minister. He volunteered as a missionary before taking his first pastorate in Shelby North Carolina. After he graduated Fruitland Bible Institute he became the volunteer Chaplain of the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Department in 1989 and has served there till the day he passed into Glory. While he served as the Chaplain he gathered all the information he could that would help him minister in an even greater capacity. He strove to perfect any aspect of the ministry that would enable other lives to be touched and give them an opportunity to grow. Willie enjoyed bringing more and more programs into the jail that would help others to be better. He wanted everyone to not just receive Jesus as their savior, but to be able to be the best they could be no matter what their walk in life was. The programs range from learning to read to Glimmer of Hope which was his much loved Christmas program for the inmates and their families. His one goal was to win souls for the Lord Jesus Christ, and in striving for that goal, he would always say “How would I want to be treated in this situation?” “What would Jesus want me to do about this?”. Even when he started the emergency housing he was always helping those no one else wanted to help. “reach the unreachable” “touch the untouchable” and let God deal with the outcome. With these ideals, he was able to reach many for the Lord and give a hand up to many as well. Through his ministry at Samuel’s Haven, Inc. & ministries we expect to continue his work and goals, helping, serving, teaching, reaching……
