Obituary for Alice Darlene Bass (Carnes)

Alice Darlene  Bass (Carnes)
Alice “Darlene” Bass, 83, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017.

She was born in Monmouth, IL June 16, 1933 to the late William and Freida Value Carnes. She was preceded in death by her son; William Burton “Buddy” Bass,
in laws; Bert and Agnes Bass, infant sister, Pearl Carnes, 5 brothers; Bill, Harold, Leroy, Ralph and Richard Carnes and grandson in law; Eric Heitman.

Mrs. Bass was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord. Her lifelong bible verse was Romans 8:28 which she had memorized even with dementia until the day she passed away. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and enjoyed doing crafts. She loved traveling with her husband Bud in their motor home and going with him on several construction jobs for many years. She visited every state in the United States including Hawaii. She also visited Canada, Mexico, Peru and many foreign countries, went on several cruises and tours. There was a special place in her heart for her grandchildren whom she adored.

Survivors include her husband Burton “Bud” Bass, daughters; Martha Cuevas and husband Jorge, Debbie Smith and husband Greg, sisters in law; Dorothy, Mildred and Linda Carnes and Gretchen Suddarth, grandchildren; J. B. Cuevas and wife Danielle, Andrew Cuevas and wife Kristyn, Sarah Smith Heitman, Joe Smith and his friend Megan Krausz and her son Kaiden, great grandchildren; Stella Kate, Hailey, Skylar and Ryan and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2pm, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Arnold officiating and soloist, Kristyn Cuevas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. Dinner will follow the services at Christ Covenant Church on Rosman Hwy.

A very special thanks to caregivers and friends Faye McCall, Keely Owensby, Karina (Sherrills) Maldonado, Marie Hughes and others that were so helpful during her time living at home with her family before she passed. Special thanks to her daughters Martha Cuevas and Debbie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Jorge Cuevas, J. B. Cuevas, Andrew Cuevas, Joe Smith and Ron Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Rhett Sanders, Gary Letchworth, Jan Senneker and Tom Arnold.
