Obituary for Lawrence Watson

Lawrence Watson, 93 of Pisgah Forest passed away peacefully August 10,2017.
Born in Jackson County, NC, he was the son of the late Charlie and Hannah Fox Watson.
Lawrence moved to Brevard as a teenager and was a farm worker before he went into the Army during WWII where he proudly served his country. After returning home, he was employed by Ecusta Corporation where he retired after 39 years. He enjoyed his dogs, gardening, visits with his neighbors, afternoon drives around the neighborhood on his golf cart, and water-gun fights with his great-grandkids who fondly referred to him as “Papoose”. His church family meant the world to him and he rarely missed a Sunday service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Surrette Watson and his second wife, Evelyn Moffitt Watson. He was also predeceased by a brother, Charles Watson; sisters Lucille Smith, Cora Lee Collins, Ella Best, and Mary Owenby; and granddaughter Amanda Watson Perkins.
He is survived by a son, Wayne Watson and wife Rita of Penrose; a brother Bedford Watson and wife Marie of Pisgah Forest and their son Tim; grandson’s Kevin Watson and wife Miranda of Asheville and their children Jenna and Jack; Matt Perkins of Wilmington, NC and his children Parker and Cabot; step-granddaughter Katie King of Hendersonville and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy United Methodist Church of Brevard on August 14th, 2017. The family will receive friends from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The service will begin at 2:00 PM with burial following in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Timothy UMC, PO Box 429, Brevard NC 28712 in memory of Lawrence.
