Obituary for Ellen Rae Wilson (Garrison)

Ellen Rae Garrison Wilson, 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Born in Weaverville, NC, she moved to Transylvania County in June 1957. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Connie Head Garrison and was the wife of the late George W. Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson received a Bachelor of Arts from the Women’s College in Greensboro (now UNC-G). She was a retired school teacher from the Transylvania County School System and previously worked for the Buncombe County School System. She taught school for 35 years. Mrs. Wilson was also a retired organist for the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
She was a longtime volunteer with the Transylvania Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of the Retired NC School Personnel, Master Gardeners, Transylvania Cattlemen’s Association, NCAE, NEA and was active in many other civic groups. Mrs. Wilson was a proud cattle farmer and gardener.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Wilson and Susan Case both of Pisgah Forest; brothers, Haskell Garrison and Richard Garrison both of Weaverville; sister, Virginia Bailey of Weaverville; grandson, Archie Case III of Hendersonville; sisters-in-law, Martha and Brenda; nieces, Kay Bradburn of Huntsville, AL, Lisa Stephenson of Ormond Beach, FL, Connie Schropp-Hosford of Asheville, Dana Davis of Weaverville, and their families; special friends, Jo Ann Black, Mary Lou Rhodes, and John and Becky Huggins.
The memorial service will be held at 1 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Mary Hinkle Shore officiating. Music will be provided by Adelaide Kersh. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of The Oaks of Brevard for their loving and dedicated care of their mother.
