Joan Susan Lyday Fisher, 64, of Lake Toxaway, passed on January 6, 2018. Joan, daughter of Neil Clarence Lyday and Dorothy Augusta Rice, was born in Highlands and raised in the Whitewater comunity. She was the eldest of five siblings and spent her childhood helping to raise them. She loved picking wildflowers, jarring honey and making jelly, while listening to her father chase hounds through the mountains of what is now Gorges State Park. Joan later became a successful general contractor and was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Augusta Rice and Neil Clarence Lyday.

She is survived by her siblings, Rachel (John) Schneider, Darla McCall, Randy (Teresa) Lyday and Maverick Riddle, ; children, Liberty Anders and Dylan Hampton; grandchildren, Chesney Anders, Ryan Anders and Hannah Thomas.

“Goodbye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end. But in my heart’s a memory. And there you’ll always be.”
