Pisgah Forest - John D. (Davis) Buchanan departed Thursday, February 22, 2018. He was 93.
John was born July 26, 1924 on Moses Creek in Jackson County to Jeff and Mary Jane Buchanan. He was married to Opal Denton Buchanan for seventy years.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, wife, and five siblings: Barbara Payne Hipps, Fremont, Claude, Alice Morgan, and Huey.
Survivors include one son, John Lamar Buchanan and wife Candace of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas Buchanan and wife Christy of Greer, SC; Laura Elizabeth Buchanan of Greer; three great-grandchildren, Emily, John Mitchell, and Olivia.
John retired as a foreman from the printing department at Olin Corp., but he never retired from gardening, trout fishing, deer and turkey hunting, and loving and giving to his family.
The visitation will be on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 1-2 pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard and masonic rites conducted by Dunn’s Rock Masonic Lodge.
Flowers are optional, or you may make a donation to the charity of your choice in his honor.
