Aubrey Odell  Rowe
Aubrey Odell Rowe, “Granddaddy” was called home on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 91, surrounded by his daughters at Charles W. George VA Medical Center in Ashville, NC.
He was born on January 9, 1927 in Alabama to the late Claude and Ida Snyder Rowe. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary O. Rowe; two daughters, Wanda S. Rowe and Diana C. Mashburn and his siblings.
He served in every branch of the military except the Navy from 1945-1966. Following his military career, he owned and operated a Gulf Service Station in Akin, SC; then spent many years as an owner operator long haul truck driver.
On August 26, 1944, he married the love of his life Mary, they enjoyed 68 years together before her death in 2012. They had seven children, two sons and five daughters.
In 2013 he moved to Brevard, NC where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Bill & Mary Morris, and became lovingly known as “Granddaddy” by all who knew him.
Survivors include his two sons, Samuel A. Rowe (Kay) of Georgia, Richard D. Rowe (Wanda) of Kansas; three daughters, Mary P. Morris (Bill) of North Carolina, I. Sue McCray (Larry) of South Carolina, and Tammy T. Wilbur of Georgia; 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren, and many loving relatives.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and was loved by many, his gentle spirit and heart touched many in his life.
A special thank you to the staff of Charles W. George VA Community Living and Hospice Facility for their loving care and the respect shown to our father in his final days.
Memorial services will be held 1pm, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Eclectic, Alabama.
Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka, Alabama is assisting the family with local services.
