Adrian S. “Sid” Propst Jr, 87, of Brevard, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022.

Sid was born on May 16, 1935 in Newton, NC to the late Adrian S. Propst Sr. and Lucile Propst. As a graduate of the University of Maryland, Sid earned his Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and went on to serve in the United States military.

Joining the Airforce during the Vietnam war, Sid was an Airman 1st Class, Medical Corpsman at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio. After his service, he worked for the Department of the Navy as a Budget Analyst and after retirement found himself working as a Bus Driver for Transylvania County Public Schools.

Sid has been a significant member of church his whole life, serving on the church council and as an usher at Saint Luther Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, MD from 1962-1999 and The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd since moving to Brevard in 1999. Serving his church has always been a passion. Other hobbies of Sid’s included photography, traveling, family reunions, fishing clubs, and a love for waterfalls and racing model boats.

Sid was preceded in death by both his parents and his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann K. Propst. Sid is survived by his siblings, Martha Bell of MD; Tony Propst of GA; David Propst of GA; and Robert L Propst of NC. Sid and Ann had four children, Dale Propst of MD; Glenn Propst of WV; Edward Propst of VA; and Mark Propst of MD. Sid leaves behind his 11 Grandchildren and four Great-Grandchildren of whom he adored spending time with.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at 9:00am at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 22 Fisher Rd., Brevard NC 28712. Internment services will be held at Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the youth program at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd to help fund camp programs for the children; a program very dear to Sid and his Granddaughter.
