Obituary for Alma Elizabeth Green (Butler)

Alma “Nanny” Butler Green age 88 of Rosman NC gained her angel wings on Friday May 1, 2020.

Alma was born 8/9/1931 in Cathey’s Creek. Her parents were the late Samuel and Salenia Butler of Rosman. She married the late Robert Morgan Green 10/23/1948.

Nanny always had a smile on her face and was such a joy to be around. She loved her family and all the babies she helped raise. As most people know she loved to make flower arrangements, she had this creative gift and could do anything with spray paint, ducktape and wallpaper. She made banana puddings for every holiday and the best fudge around and she made sure everyone she cared received a full tin at Christmas or anytime you requested it.

She will be truly missed by all. But, we rejoice in the fact that she has been reunited with her son Lynn and her husband Robert, her parents and her brothers and sister. We feel sure she is already telling Robert what to do as he has a grin on his face. Heaven is probably getting redecorated with purple spray paint and wallpaper. She is now free of her worldly body and we are sure she is working her magic in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Morgan Green, her son Robert Lynn Green, parents Samuel and Salenia, brother, Donald Lee and his wife Avonell, brother, Maurice and his wife Mary, and her sister, Sandy.

Survivors include her children; daughter Anita Green Chapman, husband Larry; daughter, Kathy Green Hooper; grandchildren, Lisa Chapman Galloway and husband Delbert, Chase Hooper and wife Dawn; great grandchildren, Hannah Snipes and husband Cody, Jake Hooper, Hope, Shane Hooper, Isabella, Sierra Hooper; great great grandchildren; Kyah, Carter, Novah, Owen, Dawson, and Brynley; siblings; sister, Judy Crowe and husband Howard, brother David Butler and wife Martha, sister, Arlene Gilstrap and husband Jack, sister, Julia McWhorter and husband Fred; special daughter in law, Gayle Dills Green;

adopted babies, Meredith, Max and Whitney; many nieces and nephews.

Alma will be laid to rest on Sunday May, 3, 2020 at Old Toxaway Cemetery. A small family service was held (due to COVID) pastor Bill Bruner officiated.

The family wants to thank everyone who has reached out and all the ongoing prayers, love and support that has been expressed.

A special thanks to the staff at Kingsbridge House of Brevard and Four Seasons Hospice they cared for Alma when we could not be there with love and compassion.
