Mr. Lance went on many mission trips helping God’s little children. He was a blessing to many people. He was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Aiken Lance; four daughters, Diane Dodson and husband Eddie, Tammy Fisher and husband Terry, Michelle Owen and husband Patrick, and Matilda McCall; two sons, Kent Lance and wife Loretta, and Randall Lance; four sisters, Betty Jones, Molly Jones, Shelby Jean Long and Linda Lance; 20 twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PN Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Old Toxaway Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service.
The family would like to share the following letter Mr. Lance received from Open Arms Ministry on July 12, 2005:
“I would like to take this time to thank you for all your kindness and dedication to the Lord and to your work here in southwestern West Virginia. Your tireless efforts are a light and an inspiration to us all. The folks here think a lot of you. I’ve heard many of them say they see Jesus in you both. After all, isn’t that what we all are seeking, to be a reflection of Jesus, to be a light in an otherwise dark and dismal world? I believe that it speaks very good of a person to have so many that love them. I pray that you continue your good works wherever you are. This world would be so much the worse without people like you in it. From my heart to yours, thank you for serving the Lord. In Christ, Sam Freeman.”
