Obituary for Bedford Watson

Pisgah Forest – Bedford Watson, age 93, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020.

He was the son of the late Charlie and Hannah Fox Watson. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Bedford was a wartime veteran of WWII and served in Japan. After he was discharged, he moved to Washington where he worked as a logger. A few years later, he moved to Pisgah Forest and worked for Ecusta/Olin until he retired. During his later years, he grew Christmas trees and was a member of the NC Christmas Tree Association. Mr. Watson purchased land in Georgia where he enjoyed hunting on flat land and growing pine trees for lumber. He and Marie enjoyed traveling in their RV all over the United States and going on tour trips with their lifetime friends, Betty and Fred Owenby. Bedford was an ordained deacon and a member of Temple Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Marie Watson, one son, Tim Watson of Pisgah Forest and many nieces and nephews, all whom he loved very much.

Graveside services will be held 2pm, Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
