Obituary for Ben Davis Shiflet, Jr.
Ben Davis Shiflet, Jr. (Davis) passed away peacefully at his home on February 15th, 2023. He was surrounded by his family.
Davis lived his life to the fullest. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Always quick with a hilarious story or joke, he will be greatly missed. A lifelong resident of Brevard North Carolina, Davis was born to Ben Shiflet and Mildred Shiflet on March 26, 1948.
Davis graduated from Western Carolina with a degree in marketing. Davis honorably served during the Vietnam war while stationed in Thailand. He spent most of his career in the building industry. Davis was an outdoor enthusiast who shared time with family and friends fishing, hiking, and shooting. Davis served his community as a Freemason. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Davis is survived by his children Stone Meredith and her husband James Meredith, Beau Shiflet and his wife Shelly Shiflet, Dustin Shiflet and his wife Angela Shiflet, Laine Kerr and her husband Sean Kerr; grandchildren Gantt Meredith, Samuel Shiflet and Catherine Shiflet; and his sister Elizabeth (Tissie) Stroup and her husband Donald Stroup. Davis is also survived by his loving nephews Bryan Stroup and Zeb Stroup.
A visitation will be scheduled for February 26th, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home and Crematory, 181 South Caldwell St., Brevard NC 28712. Military Rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard will begin at 2 PM.
