Obituary for Benjamin Lee Owen
Lake Toxaway - Benjamin "Benny" Owen, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 22, 2022. He now rests in the hands of his Lord and Savior.
He was a member of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church. He loved his church family and was very active in the church, having taught Sunday School and always wanting to play his guitar and sing in church.
Benny was a native of Transylvania County and graduated from Rosman High School. He was a grading contractor by trade for over 25 years. He was a great person and he loved nothing more than helping people in any way possible.
He was the son of Eddie Lee and Patricia (Pat) McCall Owen. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Nellie Owen and maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Nola Mae McCall.
Benny is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Michelle "Shell" Yoder Owen, who has never left his side through sickness and in health; son, Spencer Owen and wife, Erica, and grand-children, Sawyer, Samuel, and Sage Owen; brothers, Dwayne Owen and wife, Sheila, Danny Owen and wife, Deena; sister, Kim Owen; nieces and nephews, Bailey and fiance, Colby, Dylan and wife, Laura and their four children and Avery and wife, Erica and their 2 children; brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Yoder and wife, Jamie.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from noon - 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will be followed at the Mack McCall Cemetery, Kitchen Loop Rd., Balsam Grove, NC. Benny will be laid to rest in the community he loved dearly and close to his family.
For all who knew Benny, he held two things closest to his heart and that was his relationship with the Lord and his family.
