Obituary for Betty Clayton Queen

Betty Jean Clayton Queen, age 80, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 24th, 2020. She went peacefully at her residence surrounded by family who loved her dearly. She was a member of Old Toxaway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Queen was born December 1st, 1939 to the late Volney and Louise Lance Clayton Barton. She was the wife of the late Roger Lee Queen. Betty was also preceded in death by sisters Lila Mae, Ella Mae and Josephine Clayton, JoAnn Clayton Brown, Ilene Butler, her brother Carroll Clayton and her son Randy Harold Orr.
Surviving include her daughters, Freda Orr Dills and husband Larry Dills, Christie Queen DeMoss and husband David DeMoss, Teresa Clayton Aiken and husband Robin Aiken, and her sons, Gary Harold Orr, all of Old Toxaway Community, and Robert “Lee” Aiken of Charlotte, NC, one sister, Carolyn Clayton Laughter and husband James “Bud” Laughter of Hendersonville, NC, and one brother, J.C. Clayton of Hendersonville, NC. Also, a special mention to her best friend Judy Clayton who was not just a friend but an awesome caregiver during her time of sickness.
She had nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren that were precious to her, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family was huge and they all loved her dearly as she did them.
Betty spent the majority of her life dispatching for her husband Roger Queen who owned and operated Queen’s Wrecker Service. She also later on in life owned Queen’s Mini Mart where she worked and spent a lot of time. She never met a stranger, always had a big smile to greet everyone and would give everything she had away to help someone in need. To so many she was “Mama” and they would do anything for her as well. She had a heart of gold and a personality to match. This beautiful lady who was loved by so many will be greatly missed and left a huge impact on this County. She had the kindest, most gentle soul, with a heart like Jesus.
A Celebration of Life for Betty Jean Clayton Queen will be held at 2 PM
