Obituary for Brandon Edward "Buck" Jones

Brandon Edward “Buck” Jones, 44, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

He was born on December 31, 1976, to Billy Edward Jones and the late Frances Bennett Benz. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William “Dock” Jones.

Best known for his knowledge and unmatched ability to fix anything with a motor, Buck dedicated nearly two decades as a mechanic for the local John Deere Dealership, followed by several years as a mechanic for the North Carolina Forest Service. During his time with the NC Forest Service, Buck discovered a love of flying and Huey Helicopters as he served as the Chase Truck (fuel) driver and a bucket crew member with the Aviation Division. on the He had a passion for helping people and served his community as a member of Connestee Fire Rescue, Brevard Rescue Squad, and Cedar Mountain Fire Rescue. When he was not at work or volunteering, he could be found in his garage working on his numerous vehicles and tractors. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and role model to many. His presence will be greatly missed.

Surviving to carry on his legacy, in addition to his father, are his paternal grandmother, Addis Chapman Jones; former wife of 18 years, Amanda “Mandy” O’Dell Jones; sister Brandy Jones Benz and her son, Terrance Benz; half-brother Shannon Lookadoo (Nichole) and their children, Serrin, Chance, Brayden and Kassie; half-brother Matthew Billings and children, Madison, Tyler and Cody;and honorary nieces and nephew, Devin Spears, Cheyanne McConnell Gilbert, Josephine “Joey” and Adeline “Addy” Saltz, and Angel and Brantley Lance.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 28, 2021, at 2pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the funeral home.
