Obituary for Carl Edward Burnette

Carl Burnette, 83, of Brevard, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Tore’s Home. He was the beloved husband of Patsy Sutton Burnette of Barker’s Creek for 62 years. Born in Bryson City, NC, he was the son of the late Clint and Emma Burnette of Alarka and graduated from Swain High School in 1957. He retired from Coats North America and enjoyed a second career in the local golf community in the pro shops at Glen Cannon Country Club and Cummings Cove Country Club until he actually retired in 2020.

Mr. Burnette was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and was also an active member of the Gideons International. He enjoyed playing golf at every opportunity. He will always be remembered for his kindness to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife Patsy, son Keith of Arden, NC, daughter Karla, of Charlotte, NC, grandson Cameron Burnette, of Fort Wayne, IN, brothers Doug and Roger Burnette, both of Bryson City, NC, and sister Janette Leonard of Huntsville, AL. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Brown of Hartsville, SC and brother Dennis Burnette of Lexington, NC.

A memorial service will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral home on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 2 pm. Family will receive friends following the service. Graveside service for family will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva, NC.
