Obituary for Conrad Erik Person

Conrad Erik Person from the College Walk community in Brevard, North Carolina, passed away on July 20th, 2022.

Conrad was born in 1932 in San Francisco, CA, and was raised in Ft. Worth, Texas, and Chicago. He graduated from Harvard University in 1953. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and then proceeded to earn a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois. While at U of I, he fell in love with and married June née Keir Person. Together they raised their four wonderful children, Laura, Sue, Don, and David.

Conrad worked his entire professional career as a Systems Analyst at Commonwealth Edison, the electric company in Chicago. In the early days there, he wrote computer programs and then had to fly to New York to get to the computer on which to run his programs. June and Conrad enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, and were deemed Life Masters by the American Contract Bridge League many times over. They loved to travel. Conrad said his favorite trip was one they took to Turkey with their good friends June and Mike McCowin. Both Conrad and June were voracious readers, enjoyed theater, music, and Jeopardy. After retiring, Conrad and June criss-crossed the country looking for the perfect place to enjoy their retirement. They found it in Sherwood Forest, in the mountains close to Brevard.

Conrad was preceded in death by his beloved wife June, his parents Gus and Vivian, and his brothers Allan and Rolph. He is survived by his children and his grandchildren, Gus and Janista Person., and step-grandchildren Chris and Megan Geen.
