Obituary for Danny Lee Duckworth
Danny Lee Duckworth, 71, of Pisgah Forest, NC passed away June 23, 2022, at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC. He was born July 3, 1950, in Catawba County, NC. Danny was the son of the late Sidney Duckworth and Mary Brittain Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Duckworth.
Danny served four years in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and always cherished the friends he made from these two military organizations. In 1973 Danny moved to Transylvania County to work for the Olin Corporation. Later he was employed by Hubble Corporation where he retired.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed 40 years of fishing with Melvin McConnell. The two were like brothers. He had the gift to be able to fix almost anything and he helped many people out with home maintenance.
Danny was saved a few weeks before he passed. We would like to thank Rev. Breck Landreth for visiting Danny during his illness, explaining the plan of salvation and inviting him to accept Christ. Our family finds comfort knowing that we will be reunited in Heaven.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Karla Robinson Duckworth; stepson Trent Willis; step granddaughter Jade Smith; stepdaughter Dee Enterkin; step grandson Orion Ormsby; two sisters, Mary Ann Duckworth and Kay Duckworth; several nieces and nephews and good friend Buddy Hutchins.
The Duckworth family would like to express our gratitude to the Elizabeth House for the excellent care given to us during a difficult time.
A private service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Galloway Memorial Park. Moody Connolly Funeral Home and Crematory are caring for the family.
