Obituary for David Lee Lance

David Lee Lance, 73, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away at home with his wife and son by his side on Tuesday, May 19th, 2020, ending his long battle with cancer.
A Brevard native, he was the first-born son of Frank Marion “Trick” and Arona Daves Lance, who preceded him in death along with his half-sister Leona Galloway.
After graduating from Brevard High School in 1966, David began working at Olin before being drafted for the Vietnam War in 1968. He completed Army training at Fort Bragg and was then honorably discharged due to hardship induced by his father’s medical issues. Afterwards he continued working at Olin before switching careers to be a truck driver. He met his wife of 32 years, Rosa Lance, in 1988 and retired in 2012. David was also a 15-year member of the Brevard Jaycees and enjoyed the comfort of home, good barbecue, Western films, and classic cars. He will be remembered as a reliable, lovingly strong-willed, and supportive man of few words. David is survived by his wife, Rosa Lance, his brothers, James Galloway and Joe Lance, six children, Jeff Lance, Stacie Simpson, Liza Chevalier, Eddie Lance, Kayla Lance, and TJ Lance, six grandchildren, and a large extended family throughout the Brevard community.
A chapel service and celebration of life were held privately at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. A public service will be held at a later date.
