Obituary for Elsie May Wilson (Williams)

Elsie Williams Wilson, born October 6, 1923, in Edneyville, NC, passed away peacefully March 29, 2019.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos & Pammie Williams of Edneyville, NC; husband, E. C. Wilson; brothers, Charles and Earl Williams and “adopted son” Bill McKelvey.
Elsie taught Sunday School and Bible School almost 80 years at Carr’s Hill Baptist Church. She was known for preparing food for many which was her gift of service for her Lord and Savior. You never went hungry if you were around her, especially if you were fortunate to eat her chicken pot pie and her special “scratch” coconut cake, Hershey Bar Cake, and her lemon topped seven minute icing cake. In her later life, she cro- cheted many toboggans for mission ministries.

Survivors include her children, Deedie (Barbara) Wilson, Carrol (Ruth) Wilson, Judy (Larry) Reece, Brenda Ivers, Freda McKelvey, sisters, Christine Jackson, Cassie Stepp, Lou Capps, Joyce Anders (Dick), Wayne Williams (Carolyn) all of Henderson County, grandchildren, Brian (Lee) Wilson, Kevin (Becca) Reece, Keith (Lisa) Reece, David Wilson, Elizabeth, Alexandria (Jackson) and Kris (Jess) Ivers, Thad (Sonya) McKelvey, great grandchildren, Christopher & Cameron Wilson, Katherine, Allison, Kristen, Karmen, Lindsey, and Megan Reece, Blake Ivers, Austin Ash- burn, Madison, Elizabeth, Walker & Jake McKelvey and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Care Partners Home Care nurses who have helped take care of her these last several weeks; special thanks to Lois Morris Green for helping each day through the week and to Lisa Brack- en Smith for staying at night to give family members a break. Thanks to all her Carr’s Hill Church Family for the many prayers and for those who stopped by to visit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Carr’s Hill Baptist Church, 2719 Greenville Highway, Brevard, NC.
Graveside service will be 2pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Carr’s Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at 3pm at Carr’s Hill Baptist Church.
