Obituary for Helen Young Raxter
Helen Raxter, 87 years of age, died February 23 in Brevard where she lived all her life. She was born Eunice Helen Young to the late Elzie and Dru Young in the Quebec area of Transylvania County. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all that met her.
She is preceded in death by husband of 66 years,Perry. Helen was Mom to Hope Wright of Asheville, Roger Raxter and wife Lisa of Lake Toxaway, Robert Raxter and wife Evey of Brevard. Sisters are Margaret Jennings of Lake Toxaway and Edith Roades of Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by siblings Robert Young and Mildred Holbert. She was Meemaw to grandchildren David Raxter of Sumter, SC, Jesse Raxter of Lake Toxaway, Ashley Raxter of Hilton Head, SC and Chad and Jonathan Raxter both deceased. She has four great grandchildren.
Helen was a member of East Fork Baptist Church which she attended for years.She was a gracious and down to earth southern country woman who selflessly loved her family. Helen was a beautiful woman inside and out who was described by all who met her as such a sweet person. She loved and was loved by every animal she came in contact with. Her flower gardens were her happy place. As everyone who knew her could tell you, lavender was her favorite color.
The Raxter family would like to thank the staff of Tore’s Home of Brevard who provided such personal and loving care. They would also like to thank Crystal McCall with Shirley's Angels for he special care and love.
Services will be conducted by Keith Parker at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Visitation begins at 10 am. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
