Obituary for Gordon Lewis Neale

Gordon Lewis Neale, of Brevard, died on October 20, 2022, at age 70. He was born in Mineola, New York to the late Latimer and Cornelia Neale. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister in-law, Penelope Neale.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Kathryn Mundy Neale, his children, Emma Rose Borgognoni (Kyle) and Baker Woodrow Neale (Jaclyn Kaczmarek). Grandchildren are Houston and Truman Borgognoni. His surviving brothers are Philip Neale and Latimer Ford Neale (Diane) and their children, Benjamin (Brianne), Georgia, and Jules Neale (Jen).

He earned a BA from the College of Wooster and continued his education, earning an MFA from Pratt Institute. He worked for Charter Peachford Hospital and Eastside Psychiatric Hospital as an art therapist as well as the Director of the Creative Arts Therapy Department. He retired in 2015 and relocated to Brevard, North Carolina where he enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, creating his own artwork, his four-legged friends, and spending time with his family.

He volunteered his time at Free Rein Therapeutic Riding Center and at Brevard Music Center. He had a lifelong love of music ranging from Grateful Dead to Opera. Gordon was a devoted follower of Meher Baba. He was a deeply caring man who was happiest helping others. The family had a private celebration of his life.
