Obituary for Helen Gail Fisher (Owen)

Gail Owen Fisher of Lake Toxaway, N.C. passed away peacefully Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Transylvania Regional Hospital after a fourteen year battle with a rare cancer known as Paraganglioma.
Gail was the baby daughter of the late Odell and Stella Owen of Cherryfield. Gail was born in Brevard, N.C. and grew up in the Cherryfield area. While attending High School at Rosman that she met, fell in love with and married her sweetheart, Bramley Fisher. They married in April 1964, lived in Cherryfield until 1970 when they moved to Lake Toxaway, from then on Lake Toxaway was her home. Gail and Bramley enjoyed 54 years, 8 months of marriage, raising 2 boys.
Gail was an active member of North Toxaway Baptist Church and was always concerned about the welfare of others in the Lake Toxaway Community that were less fortunate. She took in and cared for multiple young people within the community over the years., never complaining but finding great joy in such activities. For many years Gail took joy in taking the elderly ladies of the church on yearly roads trips throughout Western N.C.
In the 1980’s she discovered that she was blessed with a God Given Gift to discover underground water. She was so talented with this water dousing gift that she was actively sought out to discover water. Over the years she doused 100’s, possibly 1000;s of wells throughout the Southeastern United States. A few years later she found out that she had a gift for painting and attended many classes to improve on this gift. She took great pleasure in painting with her sister and several of her friends. It always brought a smile to her face to watch a painting come together and she took great delight in showing off her paintings, many of which were painting of the mountains that she so loved.
Gail enjoyed traveling, especially on her trips to the Western United States. She and Bramley made multiple road trips over the years. In 2006 these trips became even more special to her with the birth of her first Grandchild in Boise, Idaho. From then on all these Western Adventures revolved around Boise, Id. and the grandchildren were the highlight of each yearly trip and made her happy beyond belief.
