James (Jim) David Hollingsworth, Sr., born February 5, 1934, peacefully entered into heaven on Saturday, January 8, 2022, after a brief illness.
He was born and raised in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina by Kiah and Florene (Carter) Hollingsworth. He had a gift for connecting with people, something his work at Carr Lumber Company, Biltmore Dairy, and E.I. Dupont allowed him to do.
As a founding member of Brevard Community Church, he was instrumental in building an outreach program allowing him to build relationships and share his heart for Christ. He also enjoyed his time in the woods, walking the many trails of Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest with his wife and dog as well as creating and building in “Jim & Em’s” workshop with his granddaughter Emily.
He is survived by his son David and his wife Alyse, of Brevard, his granddaughter, Emily Rodriguez and her husband Taylor, of Florida, and a special niece and several nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bessie Cox Hollingsworth, his son Ray Vic Hollingsworth, his sister, Vivian Ingram, and his brother, Wayne Hollingsworth.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with receiving of friends following the celebration. Burial will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory at 10:00 a.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shirley’s Angels, staff at Carolina Reserve, and Four Seasons Hospice for the special care given to Jim in the last few weeks of his life.
