Obituary for James Michael Owen
James Michael Owen, 71 of Transylvania County died Monday afternoon March 27, 2023.
Mike was preceded in death by his father James Lewis Owen, and his son, Jonathan Isaac Owen. Also, pre-deceased were his paternal grandparents Lonnie and Mae Owen and his paternal step grandfather Sam Owen. Lastly, pre-deceased were his maternal grandparents Dewey and Queenie Parker of Jackson County.
He is survived by his Mother, Bobbie June Parker Owen of Brevard whom I bet can count on her two hands how many times Mike might have missed "Sunday Supper" at Mama's. He was loyal beyond believe to that ritual. He was "Daddy" to his surviving daughter Renee Trace (Craig) of Hendersonville, and James Michael Owen Jr. (Jamie) of Brevard. His daughter in law, Annie Owen of Huntersville. He was "Papaw" to six grandchildren, Ian, Anna, John, James, Knox and baby Kona. Mike always referred to his grandbabies as his "pride and joy!" Nothing would make him light up more than their attention. Even at the end of his life a mere picture of them would bring him such joy! His other surviving family was his sister Denise Austin (Donald) of Penrose and his niece Hannah O'Neil (Peter) of Charlotte. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mike lived his life to the very fullest always driven and determined all the way up to the very end. He will be missed by his family greatly.
The graveside service will be held Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Woods Cemetery in Balsam Grove. The officiating pastor will be Dr. Rickie Lee.
