Obituary for Jane Mather (Cowley)
Jane Mather, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Terence Dennis Mather. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing in 2015. Throughout all the decades spent together they built a wonderful life filled with friends and loved ones.
Jane was born February 23, 1932 in Sunderland, England. She unfortunately had to spend some of her childhood living through WWII and the hardships that resulted. Although these were hard years, from them she gained a strength and resilience that would serve her well throughout her life. The family immigrated to Canada and then to the United States living many years in New Jersey before moving to Brevard, NC. in 1984. She would spend her professional life in banking and her personal life raising their two children. She was a devoted wife, mother and Nana who loved to knit and work in her garden. She treasured her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making cherished memories with each of them.
Jane is survived by her children, Ian Mather and wife, Karla of Pisgah Forest, NC; Leigh Morgan and husband, Joe of Mt. Bethel PA; daughter-in-law Tracy Mather and husband, Jim of Brevard NC; four grandchildren, Brad Kinney and wife, Michelle of Mt. Bethel, PA; Tyler Kinney and wife, Nicolle of Mt. Bethel, PA; Dennis Mather and fiance, Jessica Wilson of Brevard, NC; Layne Barber and husband, Dell of Hendersonville, NC; six great-grandchildren, Kinley Barber, Riley Kinney, Lucy Jane Kinney, Frankie Kinney, Aubree Fisher and Brynlee McCammom and extended family Luke and Emme Moyer and Kayla Himm of Mt Bethel, PA.
