Obituary for Jay Harold Galloway

Jay Harold Galloway of Rosman went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday April 11, 2021 after a brief illness.

He was born May 28, 1939 to Marie Galloway Meece and Cull Galloway. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Martha Galloway, his parents, his stepfather Albert Meece, his brothers Nealis (Greasy), Floyd, Lester, Louis, Clinton(Speedy), Doyle and Boyd, his sisters Helen Fowler (Harold’s twin), Dorothy King, Louise Cody and Donna Vee Hamilton, his stepsiblings, JA, Jerry and Mary Jane Meece.

Mr. Galloway is survived by his great niece and caregiver Erika McCall (Kris) and her children Abby & Eli who he loved and adored, his sister Carol Hanna of Six Mile, SC, many nieces and nephews, and a bunch of friends.

He worked at several locations doing different maintenance positions until he retired. Mr. Galloway was seen often getting his daily walk in on Old Toxaway Rd. He enjoyed visiting and gossiping with his family and friends. Mr. Galloway was a big story teller (just don’t believe everything he said). He was always helping people do whatever needed to be done. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

The family will hold a graveside service on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery fund or to Rosman High School athletics. (He always loved to hear about the sports that Abby and Eli were playing at the time).
