Jeff Goolsby of Penrose, 64, passed away June 6, 2020, with family by his side at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, NC.
He was born November 7, 1955, in Hollywood, Florida to Lambert and Alana Goolsby. His father and mother ran a home dairy farm in Dania, Florida.
Jeff spent his youth in Broward County, Florida where he graduated from Hollywood Hills High School in 1973. He attended carpentry & construction school, and after certification moved to Citra, Florida in 1984, before moving to Transylvania County in 1997.
He married Karon Landreth of Brevard in October of 2001, and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Mission in Pisgah Forest.
His interests included family, music, woodworking, and motorcycling. He devoted much of his time to his construction service business and as a caregiver to his family members. Jeff had a wonderful heart and his biggest passion was raising children. So, he spent most of his time outside of work taking care of his adopted daughters and grandchildren.
Mr. Goolsby was preceded in death by his father, Lambert Goolsby.
Mr. Goolsby is survived by his wife, Karon Landreth Goolsby; mother, Alana Rodwell Goolsby, 91, of Citra, Florida; siblings, Catherine Fail, Clifford Goolsby, Lynette Barber; three sons, Jeff Charles Goolsby, Dustin Goolsby, and Cody Goolsby; 2 adopted daughters Layla Neal and Katana Neal; and, four grandchildren, Eric, Austin, Cadence, and Kizaun.
A viewing will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC, Thursday June 11, 2020 at 12 noon. It will be followed by a graveside memorial service at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest at 2pm.
