Obituary for Joretta Owen (Galloway)
Joretta Galloway Owen went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Transylvania County and a resident of the Lake Toxaway community.
Joretta was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Marshall and Bessie Owen Galloway; brothers, Dawson, Elvin, and Delbert Galloway; sister, Doris Galloway, sister Dorene Galloway Lacroix and husband Steve Lacroix; brother-in-law Dave Johnson; and sister-in-law Joyce Hooper Galloway.
She is survived by son, Greg Owen and wife Ellen of Fairview, NC; son Todd Owen and wife Angela of Balsam Grove, NC; daughter, Heather Owen Batson and husband Wade of Lake Toxaway, NC; daughter, Jodie Owen and Scott Swangim of Pisgah Forest, NC; eleven grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Joshua and Olivia Owen, Lexy and Tyler Owen, Carli, Ciara, Courtney, and Faith Batson, and Cody, Cole, and Cameron Swangim; brother, Joe Travis Galloway; sister, Marlene Galloway Johnson; sister, Brenda Galloway Tomlo and husband Tom; brother, Rex Galloway and wife Grace; and sister-in-law Martha McKinney Galloway.
Joretta was a 1966 graduate of Rosman High School. She had an array of career experiences with her favorite as the caregiver of the elderly. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and doted on her grandchildren, the treasured loves of her life.
The family will receive friends at Lake Toxaway Baptist Church on Friday, January 11, from 1:00-2:00 pm with the funeral service directly following. Reverend Don Johnson will officiate the funeral service, as well as the burial at the Lake Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery.
