Obituary for Joseph Edward Galloway

Brevard - Joseph Edward (Joe) Galloway, 78, traveled to heaven to be with the Lord, from home, Friday, February 25, 2022.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Robert Glen and Josie Hendrix Galloway and brother, Jerry Lee Galloway.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 53 years where he was a deacon and taught Sunday School. He was a devoted husband and father who dearly loved his family, church family, and friends.
A native of Transylvania County, Joe worked for Citizens Telephone Company for 34 years where he retired as a lineman troubleshooter. After he retired, he spent much of his time farming. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and sharing stories about his life. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a generous heart, and a great sense of humor. He loved to play his guitar and make up silly songs to sing to his grandchildren. He appreciated the beauty of a sunset and when snow was in the forecast, he would stay up late to watch it begin. He was a Nascar fan who never missed a race. He was always smiling, encouraging others, willing to lend a helping hand and truly never met a stranger. Joe will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Ollie Juanita Galloway; son, Joseph E. (Joey) Galloway II and wife Latisha; daughter, Cindy Jones; grandchildren, Lisa Galloway and Presea, Kate, Selina, and Jesse Jones; brothers, Bill Galloway (Helen), Clyde (Shorty) Galloway (Madry); sisters, Martha Galloway (George), Glenda Hogsed (Tillman); sister-in-laws, Betty Galloway, Jean Morgan, and Brenda Campbell (Ted); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26 at Moody Connolly Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Joe, to Temple Baptist Church, P.O. Box 126, Pisgah Forest, NC, 28768.
