Obituary for Joseph Francis Stecker

Joseph (Joe) Francis Stecker, 84, of Pisgah Forest, NC passed away unexpectedly January 16, 2022. He was the son of Joseph Sr. and Clare Stecker. Joe was born January 27, 1937, in Minersville, PA. He had a childlike spirit, a heart of gold and loved an adventure. He was a proud Navy veteran. After his military service he worked for Carnation/Nestle foods as a Chemical Food Engineer. In 1995 he settled in Brevard, NC with his wife Joan to enjoy their golden years.

Joe lost his wife Joan, due to complications of Alzheimer's disease on July 24, 2020. Others that preceded him in death were his sister Margaret Mary (Stecker) Foss, and grandson Eric McAlpin. Sister in laws; Jean Allan Logan and Carol Allan. Brother in Laws: Allan T Logan, David E Foss.

He is survived by 3 stepchildren: Bob McAlpin, Dr. Rick McAlpin, and Jodie Knox and her husband Russell Knox. Five Grandchildren: Shane Knox (wife Caroline), Collin Knox (wife Jessica), Heather Knox (husband Christopher McCathern), and Russell Knox (wife Akiea), Angie Weiman (Husband Bill). 11 great grandchildren: Adam, Brittany, Charlotte, Benjamin Knox; Cameron McCathern; Aubrie, Lia, Kai Borovina; Darrian, Mantha, Mason Weiman. Brother-in-Law: Lloyd Allan. Nephews; Dr. David Foss, Rick Foss, Steven Foss, Dr. Joseph Foss.

He was a wonderful husband, stepfather and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family and was a mentor to his grandchildren. Joan and Joe traveled abroad and enjoyed their golden years together. He was a talented artist, great chef, and enjoyed writing plays. He loved working crossword puzzles and was very good at them. He was a fun-loving grandpa who taught the grandkids to play poker, dominos, and took them golfing and fishing. He took the kids on vacations all over America, showing them the way of the world and how to be good citizens. He created lasting memories of game nights, cookie days, and family gatherings. His charisma will be deeply missed.

There will be no funeral. Joseph will lie to rest alongside his wife at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Brevard, NC. A family gathering will be planned for spring. The family requests any donations be made in memory of Joseph Francis Stecker, to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital. (stjude.org)
