Obituary for Josephine Galloway Morgan

Josephine Galloway Morgan passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Mission Hospital. Though she had endured significant health problems over her lifetime she remained active and was engaged in all things "family" until an accidental fall at her home resulted in life ending injuries.
Jo was born September 9th, 1935 in Transylvania County. She briefly lived in Pickens County, SC. The family relocated to the Kannapolis/Salisbury area where she attended school. After meeting and marrying her late husband, Johnnie Morgan, she returned to the Rosman area where they raised their only child, Judy. Judy Morgan is well known in this area for her musical performances.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie, her parents Milford and Dallis Galloway, a sister Christine Cantrell, and three brothers, J.P. , L.C. and R.G. Galloway. She is survived by her daughter, Judy; brother D.H. Galloway (wife Gail); and sisters Dr. Shelby Galloway, Mildred Morgan, and Geraldine Chapman; many nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family and numerous friends.
Her many years working as an assistant to the principal of Rosman High School, placed her in contact with many local high schoolers who remember her involvement helping them navigate through graduations, proms, beauty pageants and many other functions. Her organizational skills were certainly tested.
Her employment history includes more than 25 years with Olin Corporation working in the insurance and purchasing divisions. There she met and kept many friends. After the Olin Corporation went out of business in this area, she went to Mitchell Bissell working mostly in insurance review(s). Locals will remember her working part-time later at Jarrett's convenience store. She was one who had to stay busy and was adept at office work.
She leaves behind a loving and grieving family. We have lost a mother, sister, friend and our leader as well as a talented "social events planner". She certainly left an indelible mark on this community and on so many people.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 16, 2020 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family plans a "Celebration of Life" event at the Brevard VFW on October 24, 2020 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM. We encourage all friends of Jo and her family to visit and share memories as we celebrate her life.
