Brevard – Kathleen Golden Ball, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017.
A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late James and Juanita Louella Mathis Golden and was the wife of the late Cecil F. Ball. She was also preceded in death by daughters Darlene Patterson, Frances Shook, Wanda Metcalf; grandson, Caleb Shook; granddaughter, Kimberly Metcalf; brother, Dee; sisters, Ruby, Brenda, Myrtle, Madeline, Marie; adopted son, Vondell Massingale.
Mrs. Ball retired from the Brian Center after twenty-two years of service and was also retired from Cedar Mtn. Pottery.
A woman who enjoyed simple pleasures, nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Once she became a grandmother, the sun rose and set with her grandchildren. In addition to family, she loved to garden, to cook, and time with her two little dogs, Millie and Izzy.
Survivors include sons, Larry Ball, and Gary Ball and wife Susan all of Brevard; daughter, Shirley Reiser and husband Jerry of Hendersonville; brothers, Jr. Golden and wife Betty of Brevard, Talmadge Golden and wife Barbara of Tuckasegee, Doug Golden of Sylva; sisters, Jean Taylor of Michigan, Ernestine Shook and husband Clyde of Brevard, Edith Crawford and husband Ronnie of Sylva, Ann Luker of Sylva, Sadie Axelrod of Plantation, FL; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Dunn’s Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
