Obituary for Kay Gasperson Garren

Brevard – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: Psalm 23:1-3.
Kay Gasperson Garren, 70, of Cedar Mountain, surrounded by the love of her family, went home to be with the Lord at her home on November 5, 2019 following a long illness.
Kay was born on October 10, 1949 in Transylvania County where she was a lifelong resident. She spent many years as a hard working employee at the former Ecusta plant. She was a loving mother, friend, and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar L. Gasperson and Maybelle ‘Macie’ Gasperson, and a sister, Patricia Camp.
Kay is survived by her husband, who faithfully stayed by her side, Walter P. Garren of Cedar Mountain, one daughter, Carmen Hawkins of Pisgah Forest, one son, Chris Moody and wife Jennifer of Brevard, one brother, Roger Gasperson and wife Glenda of Pisgah Forest, one sister-in-law, Edna Hampton and husband Keith of , six grandchildren, Josh, Antwan and Kayla-Ann, and Hunter, Alex, and Kaitlyn, as well as many special cousins and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 9:00 to 11:00am with a graveside service following the visitation, at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, officiated by Rev. Morris Young. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home and Crematory are caring for the family.
