Obituary for Lavonda Earle Blackwell (Morey)

Lavonda Morey Blackwell, 81, December 29, 2020, passed away at The Oaks, Brevard, NC.
She was a long time resident of Brevard moving here 1986. Born April 6, 1939, in Okeechobee, FL to the late Earl and Elba Morey, and raised by her mother and loving stepfather Weldon Bartlett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Jason Lee McCall.
She worked for the Transylvania County Sheriff’s department as a dispatcher from 1987 -2007. Her passion was animals. She volunteered at the Brevard Humane Society and befriend everything from raccoons to dogs but her horse Cebalina was her love.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Barrett Galloway (Keith) of Brevard, and Kim Bartlett Bloomer of Jacksonville, FL.

The family would like to give a very special thanks to the ladies of Sugar Brush Farm and the staff at The Oaks for their loving care of Lavonda.

In lieu of flowers show kindness and love to four and two legged creations of God.
A private ceremony will be held in the future.

When that day came to a close and the sun began to set, a million times I’d let you know I never will forget the heart of gold you left behind when you entered Heaven’s gate.
