Obituary for Lucy Parris (Smith)

Lucy Smith Parris, a lifelong resident of Brevard, went home to be with the Lord on December 5, 2021. She lived-She laughed-She loved-and She lives again! She was born July 19, 1932, to the late Jesse and Lillie Mae Orr Smith, one of eight children. She was the Matriarch of the Family. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of a women’s bowling league, enjoyed walking, gardening, cooking, entertaining and visiting family and friends and researching genealogy. But most of all she loved being Mom and Mamaw.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill Parris; three sons, Charles (Shelia) of Spotsylvania, VA, Tommy (Marinda), and Gerald (Sherri) all of Brevard; five grandchildren, Mandy (Ray) Lemmon of Stafford, VA, Jessie (BJ) Riggs of Pisgah Forest, NC, Cassie (Seth) Gerring of Brevard, Jacob Parris of Hendersonville, NC, Leslie (Greg) Pressley of Penrose, NC; eleven great grandchildren, Kobee Wynn, Bobby and Byson Riggs of Pisgah Forest, Georgia and Hadley Gerring of Brevard, Brooklyn, Codell, Nicholas and Brennan Lemmon of Stafford, VA, Sierra Parris of Hendersonville, Lane Pressley of Nashville, TN, Jordan Pressley of Brevard, a great-great granddaughter, Khamoni Lucas of Brevard; a brother, Ernest Smith of Fort Myers, FL and many special nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 9th, 2021, at Davidson River Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 9th, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Four Season’s Hospice, Flat Rock, NC.

The family would like to thank the staff at Four Season’s Hospice, Tore’s Home and Lisa Caldwell and Barbara Rogers of Comfortable Blessings Homecare for their care of Lucy.
