Obituary for Lynn Pressley Mims

Charlotte, NC - Susan Lynn Pressley Mims, 74, died on November 3, 2022 peacefully at her home after a two-year battle from congestive heart failure and other health complications. At the end, the afternoon sun streamed across her body and face as she was surrounded by her loving family when she entered her eternal home to be with Jesus.
A native of Brevard, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Gordon (Dink) Pressley and Dorothy (Dot) Juanita Wilson Pressley of Brevard, North Carolina. She was the second of four children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Constance Gail Pressley Collins.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, John Edwin Mims, Jr.; their only child, daughter Jonlyn Brooke Mims Owen and husband, Brandon, of Charlotte; two brothers, Wayne Pressley and wife, Dawn, of Chapel Hill, and Jeff Pressley and wife, Tammy, of Brevard; and other beloved family and friends. John made it possible for her to stay in their home until the end of her life, and that was no small thing.
Lynn enjoyed her time as a majorette at Brevard High School and passed on the passion to her daughter. After being part of the graduating class of 1966 from Brevard High School, she went on to attend Kings College in Charlotte. She grew up in Brevard but loved her time living on the west coast of Florida for 10 years, and adored vacationing at Panama City Beach with her family. Lynn treasured memories made on a couple of Caribbean vacations with her daughter, lots of shopping trips, especially at Christmas time, and eating crab legs with her son-in-law on beach vacations. In the fall, she was enthusiast while watching football on TV and rooted for the Carolina Panthers NFL team. John and Lynn reminisced about date nights at the Iron Gate restaurant in Asheville followed by drive-in movies, and eventually moved to Charlotte to be near their daughter to enjoy the city life. She was a member of Brevard Wesleyan Church in Brevard. Although, she couldn’t always attend in-person church service, she faithfully watched various sermons on TV.
The family will receive friends at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 12th with chapel funeral services following at 11 a.m. The Reverend Hank Moffitt will officiate. Lynn’s burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
She loved traditional flowers at funerals, however memorials may also be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region https://www.hpccr.org/donate.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire Station 16 who was a blessing to the family in numerous times of need with her health conditions. Robertson Funeral and Cremation Service in Charlotte and Moody-Connolly Funeral Home and Crematory in Brevard both cared for the family.
